What is my CST training?
I have over 500 hours of training from the Upledger Institute. I am also a certified teaching assistant for the Upledger Institute.

What is CST?
Craniosacral Therapy is a delicate touch therapy originally developed by Osteopathic physicians to calm the nervous system by treating the craniosacral system which envelopes the brain and spinal cord. The general treatment ideology of osteopaths is to gently manipulate the body just enough to restart its innate healing processes and then give the body time to heal on its own. This philosophy rejects the notion that a forceful manipulation of the body is an optimal way to correct pathology.

What Problems Can CST Treat?
Abbreviated “CST”, Craniosacral Therapy is typically applied to conditions such as head and facial trauma, chronic headache, PTSD, and autism which have an obvious association with the nervous system; however, it can be applied to any condition that may benefit from calming down the central or autonomic nervous systems, or relieving pressure on Cranial Nerves.

Is this the right treatment for me?
The typical client seeking craniosacral therapy has a chronic long lasting condition who has seen several other practitioners with limited results. CST is sometimes best used in conjunction with other therapies. Occupational and physical therapy may become more effective because CST calms down the nervous system so that the body can function more normally, including its innate healing process.

How will I respond to treatment?
Craniosacral therapy is not a quick fix solution to any problem. It typically requires several sessions for the nervous system and “craniosacral rhythm” to gradually normalize. The frequency of visits can be weekly to monthly. The total duration of treatment could end after a couple months or go on indefinitely depending on how severe the problem is.

How safe is it?
Because this is a delicate touch therapy, CST is very safe for most people, but certain precautions do exist. Conditions where a physician should be consulted prior to receiving CST are: Abnormal CSF pressure, Arnold Chiari Malformation, Recent Stoke or brain hemorrhage, and recent fractured skull or vertebra/pelvis are most but not all precautions.

What is SER?
Associated with CST is something called "Somatoemotional Release" (SER). SER can actually occur as a response to any type of treatment that encourages the patient to have a greater mind-body awareness. Physical problems can often be the consequence of non-physical causes, and SER is a way to improve those physical problems. If you have a physical problem that nobody can explain because all of your tests are "normal", there is a good chance your problem is being caused by something non-physical.
