Why did standard physical therapy fail?
Standard physical therapy is great for many things, but I hear a lot of patients tell me that they "went to physical therapy, but the exercises did not help much." The exercises were probably good, but your body wasn't ready for them. You needed more healing before the exercises could help. This clinic is about hands-on care; we treat the tissue with our hands, not by having you do exercises or stretches during the treatment session.
How do we "normalize" the tissues?
We use manual therapy techniques, not exercises, to identify and treat tension in tissues. The fancy words are "Functional Manual Therapy" for Sally and "Myofascial Release" for Gary. They are different styles of manual therapy, but both are effective at identifying the right place to put our hands.
What Problems Can This Treat?
The most common issues we see are plantar fasciitis, small bone alignment (e.g., bunions), muscle strains, and anything that fits into the category of general foot pain.
How will I respond to treatment?
Virtually everyone we see for foot/ankle issues has reached the chronic stage (you have been dealing with it for many months). This means that it is going to take a few visits to see improvement. Most people will see noticeable improvements in 2 or 3 treatments. Really chronic situations will require more.
How safe is it?
Our treatments are very safe, and we will clearly explain everything we are doing before and during treatment so that you feel like you are participating in the session.
