Sally Kappen, PT, MPT, CFMT

Sally specializes in Head, Face, Mouth, Neck, Dental, Jaw Pain, Shoulder, Chest, Upper Back, Abdominal Issues, Nerve Pain, Pelvis (includes Uterus/ Pelvic Floor).

Sally is a physical therapist with extensive experience in Visceral Manipulation and Neural Manipulation. She also has a prestigious certification in Functional Manual Therapy from the Institute of Physical Art. Sally has over 20 years of (hands-on) experience treating neck, head and upper trunk dysfunction with attention to alignment, posture and body mechanics to reduce strain and regain function.

Pain and tension in the head neck and jaw can cause changes in posture throughout the body and contribute to dysfunctional movement and alignment affecting one’s function throughout the day. Jaw and tooth pain can sometimes occur after oral procedures and prolonged or awkward postures. These symptoms can respond positively to therapy techniques of neural and fascial mobilization with specific neuromuscular activation/reeducation enabling return to one’s regular desired activities.

Incorporation of these unique trainings allows for approaching each patient’s needs to address the source of dysfunction/pain rather than just treating the symptoms. Treatment of the nerves and soft tissue/fascia in the head, neck, trunk and upper extremity often help to restore efficient alignment and mobility and improve tolerance to daily activities and reduce pain and discomfort.

Additionally, reducing undue mechanical strain from visceral fascia organs and tissue also helps to restore balanced healthy musculoskeletal alignment to support efficient movement for daily activities. Scar tissue from surgery or injury can contribute to associated restrictions. Lack of regular mobility options and/or “guarding” an area can often lead to more long-term movement limitations and compensations if left untreated. Facilitating the restoration of the mechanical mobility of joints, fascia and neural tissue allow the body access to reintegrate efficient activation and subsequent coordination of the body parts to restore efficient movement and enhance an individual’s quality of life.

Evaluating each individual’s needs to facilitate their efficient function while treating the body system as a whole helps to avoid deficiencies in care common in typical therapy settings.

Gary Johnson, PT, LMT, CST-T

Gary specializes in Head (and concussion), Face, Mouth, Neck, Dental, Jaw Pain, Shoulder, Chest, Upper Back, Abdominal Issues, Trauma, Autonomic Regulation, Chronic Fatigue.

What should you expect?

Please anticipate that you will require 3-sessions for common problems, but more visits for more chronic/severe problems. The first session is a "what" and "where" session that allows me to apply some common CST, MFR, or VM treatments to become familiar with how you respond. The second and third sessions are the "why" and "how" sessions in which I can become much more specific with my treatments. Depending on how chronic your situation is, you may wish to continue beyond three sessions, but you will have a very good idea of your response to Craniosacral therapy in 3-sessions.

Gary is both a physical therapist and a medical massage therapist trained in Craniosacral Therapy, Myofascial Unwinding, Visceral Manipulation and Somato-Emotional Release. He is Upledger Certified in Craniosacral Therapy. These specialties are described in detail on other pages of this website.
